A stroll thru Balham

Today we did a walk in Balham.
As we left the station we passed by four bronze resin reliefs. This one is called ” Impressions of Balham”. I tried to find more info about them but as of now i have not.

This is the Bedford , at one time a hotel. It's now a live entertainment pub with five bars and five function rooms.

Farther on our walk we came to a common or what we would call a park.

A nice quite area where Coach can run. We will miss these spots when we go back to the states.

This is Tooting Bec Lido, a 100 by 300 pool that is 7 feet deep.  Built in 1906 its still in use today
There were a few people swimming on this chilly day.

This was called the duck pond, although today most of them were on vacation.

we also passed a section were there planning on cutting down seventy seven chestnut trees. Some of the trees are not in good health so the plan is to replace them all.

A funny sign, if you look close it says you can only walk a maximum of four dogs. Just in case you can't count they have them numbered

Time for a street walk, as you can see there is no front yard to speak of.

This is Du Cane Court built in 1937 and is the largest privately owned block of flats under one roof in Europe
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Du_Cane_Court
It was never bombed in WWII because the Germans used it as a navigation beacon. And from the air it looks slightly like a swastika.

And every house on this street had an entrance room added to the front. None of them were the same so i guess one guy started it and the rest followed. They all wanted to keep up with the Jones's.

Let us out, please!

Leanne made a great suggestion that we bring a small bottle of Champagne for the end of our walk. This women is smart along with great looking. We did forget the cheese and crackers, we will have it for the next walk.

Coach enjoying his break, he did get up to chase a squirrel.
The squirrel won.

I look real relaxed, don't I?

I'm really trying to figure how i'm going to get up from this position.

The train station to get home, i know you have been wondering what a small town station looks like.

Now you know.

Just so you know i did get up all by my self.
